Turmeric Latte (Golden Milk)

Turmeric Latte

An Ayurvedic recipe with many benefits including: reducing inflammation, improving mood, supporting brain function, protecting against cell damage, lowering blood sugar, boosting the immune system, improving bone health & aiding in digestion. I love to drink this in the afternoon or evening to relax and enjoy a moment to myself.

Servings: 2

Ingredients:

2 cups coconut milk (I like Aroy-D)

1/2 tsp ground turmeric (I like Diaspora Co.)

1/2 inch fresh ginger, grated OR a pinch of dried ginger

Pinch black pepper

Pinch cinnamin

Sweetened to taste - I like to use monkfruit or stevia to avoid blood sugar spikes, but you can also indulge with honey or maple syrup.

Method:

1) Combine the coconut milk with the turmeric, ginger, black pepper and cinnamon. Whisk together, then bring to a boil.

2) Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.

3) Strain through a fine mesh strainer into two cups.

The black pepper and fat from the coconut milk helps to activate the curcumin in the turmeric, so don’t skip out on those ingredients!
